Cristiano Ronaldo has been presented with the Guinness World Records Certificate for surpassing Iran’s Ali Daei to become the highest scorer in men’s international football.
Cristiano Ronaldo eclipsed Ali Daei on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 after netting a brace in Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Ireland, which took his international goals tally to 111. Prior to Wednesday’s brace, Ronaldo and Daei were tied with 109 goals each.
Cristiano Ronaldo emphasized the importance of being recognized as a world record holder and stressed his desire to score more.
“Thank you to the Guinness World Records. Always good to be recognized as a world record breaker. Let’s keep trying to set the numbers even higher”, wrote Ronaldo on Facebook.
