Nominees for 2019 Africa Gospel Awards unveiled

Nominees for the 2019 edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST) have been unveiled. The unveiling ceremony took place at the Holiday Inn hotel on Friday, January 11, 2019.

Ghana received 79 nominations with 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) winner Joe Mettle clocking 10 nominations. Nigeria followed suit with 75 nominations and Tim Godfrey getting 8 nominations. Doctor Tumi from South Africa received 6 nominations.

Other Gospel artistes and groups who received nominations for various categories include Nathaniel Bassey (Nigeria), Frank Edwards (Nigeria), Sonnie Badu (Ghana), Tim Godfrey (Nigeria), Dr Tumi (South Africa).

The 2019 AGAFEST themed ‘Africa under one God’ will take place at the Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair in March this year.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of AGAFEST, Prince Mackay, nominations were made based on performances and songs released by gospel artistes from January 2017 to November 2018.

The two-day event will feature an Africa Gospel Business Summit on day one and the Awards ceremony on day two.

The Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST) is an award event that recognizes and celebrates talents and hardworking gospel acts, ministry, mission projects, outreach and evangelism, charity works and many more works related to the Gospel across Africa.

The awards seek to unearth, encourage, motivate and inspire musicians and Christian activities, mission, evangelism outfits to aspire to attain excellence in their ministries and businesses and to be of better service to the Kingdom of God.
