Kofi King Arthur who is popularly known as Kofi Kinaata is one of the respected musicians in Ghana for his rich content and the addressing of societal virtues and vices through musical pieces.
He is known to produce songs that inspire people to action, point out the wrong or commend the good side of life. His songs throw more light on the pertinent issues of the society that many fail to talk about.
His ‘Susuka’ song did not only encouraged the less privileged and marginalized in the society but it also urged people to be content with what they have and not to be complaining about everyday life.
Kofi Kinaata’s recent visit to Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Barfuor Adjei-Barwah at the Ghanaian Embassy in Washington DC on Friday, 7 February 2020, saw him receive commendations from the diplomat on the great role he has played through his music to help shape the behavior of society.
The ‘Things Fall Apart’ hitmaker stated that he draws inspiration for his songs from social trends and by listening to reggae songs. He added that he is more concerned about making relevant music that will last the test of time than songs that will disappear within a year.
He said: “Addressing social issues through contemporary music is not the most popular thing to do as an artist. You risk losing fans who want to dance and enjoy. But I have resolved to do it because it comes from a deep place in my heart.”
