COVID-19: 84 out of 86 suspected cases in Central Region test negative

Mr. Kwamena Duncan, Ghana’s Central Regional Minister, says his region has recorded 86 suspected cases of the COVID-19. According to the Minister, 84 out of the 86 persons tested negative after they went through test processes. He also added that the remaining two were awaiting the results of their test.

Mr. Duncan revealed this to the media shortly after the disinfection of markets in the Central Region as part of measures to control the spread of COVID-19. He observed that the Central Region has not recorded any confirmed case yet and assured of his support towards ensuring quality health care within the region in these times.

A disinfection exercise, carried out by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development in collaboration with Moderpest Company was done in 124 markets in the Central Region including Cape Coast Stadium, fitting shops and lorry parks to prevent transmission. Mr. Duncan was impressed with the exercise which was aimed at in collaboration with Moderpest to help fight against the virus.

The Central Regional Minister and his team also moved to Cape Coast Stadium to disinfect the place since there hasn’t been any massive disinfection there yet.

Ghana has recorded 287 cases of the COVID-19 in six regions so far. The COVID-19 has killed five (5) people in Ghana so far.

The regional distribution of the cases are as follows: Greater Accra Region has most cases (256) followed by the Ashanti Region (18), Northern Region (10), Upper West Region (1), Eastern Region (1) and Upper East Region (1).

In a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on UTV, the renowned Ghanaian pastor indicated that it has become relevant to embark on the exercise, realizing that many people are unable to get food to eat when they don’t go out every day to work.
